Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 2024

The Planet of the Apes saga which began with Rise in 2011 continued with Dawn in 2014 and concluded with War in 2017 is directed by Matt Reeves and is in my opinion one of cinema’s greatest trilogies. Fast forward seven years from that last installment and Wes Ball best known for the Maze Runner trilogy steps in to breathe new life into the series. Understandably, many, including myself, questioned Is this necessary anymore. Still I have to admit that Wes Ball has done an admirable job. Instead of rehashing themes from the previous films he ventures into new territory with new characters. Kingdom stands as a compelling self-contained narrative that doesn’t rely on its predecessors.
