A vigilante by the name of Rorschach looks into the death of the Comedian, a former superhero, in the alternate universe of 1985. Through his journal, Rorschach presents his grim and gloomy reality, where crime is common and superheroes are forbidden. He informs Nite Owl, a former ally, of an approaching disaster when he sees him. In the process of looking for the Comedian’s killer, Rorschach uncovers a plot involving the Silk Spectre, a mystery character. Rorschach discovers a network of dishonesty and corruption that threatens the foundation of society as he digs further.
